The collaboration with Mr. Stephen Carey came about after The Spiritual Bat's first live stream, in pandemic times.

Our songs are like magic rituals for us, and we felt an urge to share this song and others in live streams, to give ourselves and others courage and hope, because we truly believed - and still believe - that art is magic, and it can help defeat fear and channel energy, it can cure, it can bring people together...

Well, here was this amazing musician and producer, Stephen Carey of The Eden House (also This Burning Effigy, NFD, and much more)... he offered a mix, because he had "liked our energy" and it was his idea to invite the magnificent Shir-Ran Yinon (known for The Eden House, her own project Mondena Quartet, her work with New Model Army, and involvement in a variety of genres). In a way, it is thanks to Stephen's contribution that the idea of this whole EP has come to life.

The song Mission, is the title-track for the soon-to-be-released album Mission:Create. The general message of the album happens to be consistent with that of the song, albeit coming from different situations around us, both pre and post-pandemic, on spiritual, social, and geopolitical levels. It was already a sort of call to arms for all creatives, seeing creativity and collaborations between artists as a way to survive through the dark times and uncertainty, and then quarantines, too.

Greg Scott Cruz, a regular with The Spiritual Bat, as he narrates himself in a post, was woken up from a torpor and shaken into composing keyboards arrangements and finally, to author a video clip.

It is our wish for the message to keep spreading and to reach more creatives who might be feeling disheartened, for whatever reason.
