From the art and rituals of the Alchemist Painters came the Om, the first sound, and Spiritual Bats were born.

The alchemical stages that led to the birth of Spiritual Bats and their transmutations can now be aurally explored thanks to this retrospective collection, brought to you by Swiss Dark Nights. It gathers tracks from four different releases, recorded by four different line-ups, between 1993 to 2008. Visually supported by a 16-page booklet of rare or unreleased Alchimisti art and band photos, this project took over a year and a half in the making, between digging archives, collecting material and editing it. All tracks have been remastered. The tracks from Sacrament needed to be acquired from the original Ampex reel, and re-mixed first. The bonus tracks are from a band rehearsal in 1998, never previously released.

I Pittori Alchimisti is an art group founded in 1975 by Lamberto Bracaglia, in Frosinone, Italy. After signing their own “Manifesto teorico - esoterico della pittura alchemica”, they held innumerable art exhibitions in Italy and abroad, including the Venice Biennale 1986, and went beyond painting, with video-installations, theatre, visual poetry, graphics, and collaborations with alternative magazines such as Frigidaire.
